We got our hands on the brand-new Type AB+ electric brushless motors from Vampire Racing. The power mills have been introduced to the public some time ago during this year's Nuremberg International Toy Fair and now the first batch of motors is available.

The inrunner motors are currently available from 4.5T up to 8.5T making them interesting for both on-road and off-road applications. All motors feature a gunmetal-coloured multi-part can with separate front and back plate, adjustable timing, separate sensor unit and heavy-duty 10x5x4mm front bearing.

Front plate and mid section of the case sport large ventilation openings to keep running temperatures low. The back/sensor plate features a side feed sensor plug meaning routing the (optional) sensor wire is easy while the side position also means better protection of the sensor plug in the event of crashes and also water protecting using Blue-Tack or similar gum is carried out with ease.

All motors come with a 12.5mm "Allround" rotor with 12.0mm "High Rev" and 13.0mm "High torque" replacement rotors will become available soon. The rotors as well as the adjustable timing help to fine-tune the characteristic of the motor to your liking or the track characteristics. The five different windings cover most racing applications with the 4.5T being the fastest and the 8.5T being the softest variant so far.

The AB+ motor features some of the thickest solder tabs we have seen so far on 1/10 scale motors. Despite having to route the speed controller wires trough tiny holes as seen on other motors of that class the VR motors have solid tabs that make soldering a breeze. Each motor comes with laser-engraved Vampire Racing logos, solder tab markings and individual winding markings. We have yet to try them on the track and we really look forward to put these babies through their paces.
